FV News: The first store without sellers and cashiers

January 22, 2018 - SEATTLE, Washington, USA

The first store with no checkout required, "Amazon Go" by Amazon.com, opened doors on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 2131 7th Avenue in Seattle, Washington, USA. In this revolutionary store, opened 7AM-9PM Monday through Friday, customers can simply use the Amazon Go app to enter and buy the products they want. The "Just Walk Out" shopping experience is made possible by a mix of technologies - computer vision, sensor fusion, and deep learning - which automatically detects when products are taken from or returned to the shelves and keeps track of them in a virtual cart.

The store - 1,800 square feet of retail space - offers ready-to-eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. The selection of grocery essentials ranges from staples like bread and milk to artisan cheeses and locally made chocolates. The Amazon Meal Kits have ingredients to make a meal for two in about 30 minutes. Shopping at Amazon Go needs an Amazon account, the free Amazon Go app, and a recent-generation iPhone or Android phone.
